This winter has been mild, and I've been wanting snow. I got off the subway a stop early so I could walk by the south end of Central Park. When it snows in NYC, the colors seem to melt away. The Swallowtail Shawl. This was my first attempt at knitting lace. I should have used a lighter yarn. Working with a dark color makes it very difficult to see the stitches. And definitely don't work on lace after a glass (or two) of wine. I've mostly been working on my crazy blanket (photos soon) but when I received a recent issue of Knit1 magazine, I had to knit up this hooded sweater for my nephew. I had already made my nephew Garrett a sweater vest when he was younger, but Evan only got a blanket...So I was inspired, and here's the result. What a cutie! The challenge is a 3.5 mile run in Central Park. It's held on two night because the event is so big. This year the event was sold out with 15,000 runners each night! It's was a lot of fun, and not too difficult to organize. You may be familiar with her name. She is this amazing woman that weighed 550 lbs. With determination and the help of gastric bi-pass surgery, she was able to drop the weight.
