Chunky Green Scarf

While in the midst of several web projects, I also have several knit projects underway. When I realized a sweater I started months ago would not be done before the end of winter 09, I decided to crank out something fast...and what's quicker than a chunky scarf.

Green Chunky Scarf

The scarf is knit with Lion Brand Chunky in Cilantro and Lemongrass. Using double strands to make it thicker, the pattern is a three-cable braid. The photo could be better...working on it.

Oh, and if you are in NYC, Lion Brand opened up a store on 15th St. They have been coming out with a lot of great new yarns and colors.

JonBoilard.com

I've been meaning to posted about this new site for awhile. Jon Boilard is a short story author. He approached me to redesign his website after seeing another website I designed for author Manuel Munoz. It was a pleasure to work with Jon who happens to live on the other side of the country, yet grew up a town away from where I was raised. Certainly a small world.

Visit his new site, JonBoilard.com.

Settled in and confident. More photos of Morgan can be found at cockyconure.com.

Sweater for Evan

It had been a while since I knitted something with a purpose. I've mostly been working on my crazy blanket (photos soon) but when I received a recent issue of Knit1 magazine, I had to knit up this hooded sweater for my nephew. I had already made my nephew Garrett a sweater vest when he was younger, but Evan only got a blanket...So I was inspired, and here's the result. What a cutie! (The sweater and Evan!)

Morgan is home!

Morgan has been home with us for a week now. About 2 weeks before we expected him. I guess you never really know! He's adjusting well to his new "flock" and enjoys his naps as you can see in this photo.

And here's a short video of him enjoying his first bath. From now on, he will be taking his baths in the sink.

Soapbox - Load Time

ok, rarely do I visit a site the bothers me so much that I feel the need to preach. When designing a site, there are certain things that I try to advise against for one main reason. Load time. If someone visiting your site needs to wait for even a couple seconds to see what you have to offer or what you are all about, they won't.

In a photography magazine, I came across a screen shot of a very clean and simple designed site. I visited the site and the design quickly fell apart as I had to wait for each image to load.
